Stop Motion tips & tricks
So, I learned some tricks while doing this assignment.
First off, use your video editor(s) to the most that you can get out of them. I used Windows Movie Maker to cut down my raw footage (because it was the fastest program for that job) and I also used it to create my title and credits sections of the video. After I had cut down the footage, I used CyberLink Power Director 11 to put it together and add sound effects, music, and a visual effect.
Secondly, if the nature of your video allows it, film as little separate clips as possible. It is much easier to create stops/starts in a video editor, with less jittering, than it is to combine multiple clips. Also, as an added benefit, the less clips there are, the faster most video editors will run. For my video, I only filmed two clips, one 14mins and the other 10mins. Using WMM to cut that footage down and add the transitions was much faster and easier to do than it would have been to combine multiple clips into one movie.
Thirdly, visual and sound effects can improve your video immensely! Just try watching mine when its muted! You can barely tell whats going on and it is a lot more boring. In it, I have someone 'teleporting' up a rock climbing wall. In some places, it looks weird if you don't here the enderman teleportation sound effect.
