Was Walt Disney A successful Animator?
Walt Disney is perhaps one of the most successful animators of all time. His early film, Snow White, grossed 8 million dollars in the box office in the first release! This fact is doubly impressive when you link about when those eight million dollars were made. Snow White was released in 1937, when the depression was just ending, and people still didn't have that much money. On top of that, Walt Disney has created many popular and successful characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and the list just go's on and on! His company has two large theme parks, and is a major corporation. It has bought up LucasArts, that's how rich it is! It has many facets of income, such as game producing, theme parks, movies, tv shows, and even toys! Walt Disney was the one that started it all, so I would say, yes, Walt Disney was a very successful animator!
Thoughts on the popularity of Animation:
I believe that the reasons that animation is becoming so popular is because of the wide range of things that you can make with it that aren't possible in real life, and because a lot of the time it is cheaper to use than actual physical footage. We are surrounded by animation, from TV ads, to video games, to cartoons, and back to online ads.
